I went here for lunch the other day and it is absolutely excellent! There aren't many places in Atlanta that serve quality sit-down Chinese food, but this is one of them. For starters, you get complementary hot tea which is very nice. For $7.50 (their prices include tax!), you get this along with a bowl of soup, big egg roll, and an entree that will last you at least two meals. The quality of the food was excellent and the service was just right. I'll be back!

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Atlanta, and--dare I say--in the whole US, really.I've been going here my whole life with my family, and the food is still exactly as I ever had it. The most delicious dishes here I think are the Mongolian Beef, Empress Chicken Wings, and egg rolls. The Mongolian Beef comes on a bed of crispy, thin white crunchy noodles, and the Empress Chicken Wings are not like any other wings I've ever had. They almost look like drum sticks but are cut very differently--I'm not even sure how to explain it. But the sauce is a delicious soy base and is slightly sweet. The egg rolls have that really thick, crunchy skin and lots of soft, shredded cabbage and pork on the inside.I've been to the other Golden Buddhas in Atlanta, and they are not the same at all. If you're ever in Decatur, you MUST eat here!

We have ordered from the GB for years but the last few orders have seen quality gone down hill. The cashew chicken was very bland and gummy. The moo shu chicken was similar. On a bright note their hot and sour soup was great that's why it's 2 stars.

I have been a long time regular customer of this restaurant, however I will no longer be. I ordered 3 soups and was only given two. I have ordered many MANY times from them usually I order two soups, so I know the size container that comes with two soups and that is NOT what I received. When I called to tell them about it I was asked if I wanted a credit or another soup. I decided that I wanted another soup because there were three of us and not everyone was able to eat much soup with the small size container that they sent me. At first they said that was fine, but then they called me back to tell me that actually I had received three soups instead of two. I think they just didn't want to take the time to bring me the third soup. Its too bad, I really like this place but I hate when restaurants try to cut corners to save money. Needless to say I will be going to a different Chinese restaurant from now on.

For $9.04 I got a sweet tea, starter salad, cup of soup, fried rice and a heaping serving of some very delicious Hunan Chicken.I've eaten at a lot of Chinese restaurants and although this one isn't the best, it's a solid option in the area. Bang for buck, you won't be disappointed.Fast and friendly service with great food at a great price equals my repeat business!

So I had never came here except to pick up take out. I probably never would've come here save for when my girlfriend wants some mongolian beef. This night however, I decided that we should stick around and try eating there. It was pretty busy but we didn't have to wait for a table on a Saturday night, and big plus there, since I was hungry. My girlfriend ordered her usual, Mongolia beef, and I got sa-cha shrimp. The freshness and taste is always good. While my only concern is that they Americanize their sauces a little too much, they still get 4 stars for their service and portions. The to go orders in the past seemed a little steep, but way more than other places like Doc Cheys. But eating in seems to make the chef think he has to fill the entire foot long plate they use. I'll gladly trade some authenticity for quite a bit more food. When I want some 100 percent authentic food, I'll make the trip up to Buford highway. But if I only want to drive 2 or 3 miles, I'll be coming here.

This definitely takes my prize for best Americanized Chinese restaurant. The dishes are more like $10-$12, but I always have enough for another meal. They also give you a free hot tea, which is a step up from most Chinese restaurants in the area. This doesn't sound cool, but I'm a little bit of a mongolian beef. connoisseur. Yes, it's lame but it's also my favorite. They have a really well balanced mongolian beef-- no too sugary of salty tasting, it's just right. Plus, they don't skimp you on beef. In fact, it's probably an equal share between onions and beef.I would say to sit down there, simply because you'll get more food that way. There's only so much you can fit in one of those take out boxes.

The Golden Buddha is very near my job, and I ate there once when I first started here and wasn't too impressed. Thing is, when we host large groups visiting from our partner programs in China, we usually end up at "the Buddha" a few times for meals. We don't order from the American menu; instead, they prepare a variety of traditional Chinese dishes. I am pretty sure they can whip these things up any time, though. We had a lot of visitors at work in November and December, and I knew I was going to be eating a lot of Chinese food. Honestly, I was not looking forward to it based on my earlier experience. All in all, I ate at the Buddha about 18 times in a three week period. Turns out the reason I didn't care for their food is because I ordered the wrong thing. Step away from American food like General Tso's and explore a little! Some of my favorite dishes included a pork & pineapple stir fry, amazing noodle soup bowls, pepper fried shrimp, and chicken wings. The wings are part of the regular menu and are soooo tasty! They cut them partially off the bone so they are easier to eat, which I like. The primary reason we always end up back at the Golden Buddha is because the staff really takes care of the guests. They are so attentive and take care of special requests and large groups. Can there be a more ringing endorsement of a restaurant than, after eating there constantly, I was excited to have the leftovers? Go, check it out and become a fan like I am.

It was not like there we lots of people waiting, there we 6 empty tables and no one was waiting by the time we left.

I had driven past Lee's Golden Buddha numerous times but never thought to try it until one of my co-workers expressed interest in checking it out for lunch. Since I had committed to posting one review every day in 2012, I was open to trying new places and agreed we should go.We walked in a little after 1 pm on a Wednesday, and we were asked whether we wanted Chinese or Japanese food. As we contemplated for a moment, the hostess told us that she would just give us one of each menu and we could decide which we would want. Then, she seated us by a window with the view of their koi pond. Although it looked like a pretty nice pond, I couldn't help but think how random it was. After glancing at both menus, we quickly decided to get Chinese simply because the lunch specials were better deals than those in the Japanese menu. The Chinese lunch specials are served with your choice of either salad or soup. I chose the Pepper Steak lunch special with fried rice and Wonton soup.My co-worker's salad and my soup were served soon after we ordered. I thought the Wonton soup was decent, and it was served hot, but there was only a single wonton in the soup. I wished there was more than one wonton in it. About ten minutes after we got our salad/soup, our entrees were served.* Pepper Steak ($6.25) - As soon as I saw my plate of Pepper Steak and fried rice, I was bummed that there were SO many pieces of onions in it. I wish I had known that it would contain onions because I would have rather had more green bell peppers. Boo. The pieces of steak were flavorful, but it wasn't anything special. I did, however, appreciate that I had the option of getting fried rice vs. plain white rice at no extra charge. It was just your standard Chinese-style fried rice simply containing eggs and carrots, but it was good. When we were finishing up our meals and wanted to get our checks to have our payments processed, our server was no where to be found. After waiting probably over ten minutes, we just got up and walked over to the front counter to pay. Since it was our first time dining there, we weren't sure if that was the standard thing to do, but at least we were able to get our payments processed quicker.Overall, Lee's Golden Buddha Restaurant in Buckhead gets 3 stars for their affordable and "OK" Chinese lunch specials. I would have given them an extra 1/2 a star if our server had been more attentive. The restaurant wasn't very busy so it didn't make much sense that she didn't really check on us, let alone bring our checks. I may return to give them another shot during lunch and will update my review if necessary.[Review 004 of 100]

I've been going to this restaurant since I was a kid, and this place has been consistent for years. Most of the stuff I've had has been off the Korean/Chinese menu.First of all, I love that all Chinese restaurants that somewhat cater to Korean people have kimchi and the onion/black sauce combo. mmmI think their jjajang (the noodles with the black bean sauce) is really good, but the sauce can be greasy from time to time. They put in big chunks of veggies and seafood that are really good. Jjambbong (the spicy seafood noodle soup) always hits the spot here as well. The star at this place is the kkangpoongi (fried spicy/sweet chicken). If you've never tried it, this is the place to have it. I'll be honest, this is usually not something that I like, but something about the way they do it at Golden Buddha is awesome. You must must must get it with the bone. They somehow shove the upper part of the chicken wing (the part that looks like a drumstick) to the top of the bone, and then they fry it in this sweet and slightly spicy sauce. Every time I've had it, it's been hot and perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The boneless is ok too, but it doesn't have the same charm as with the bone.Everything else I've tried here has been pretty solid as well. But please try the chicken if you haven't yet.

Golden Buddha is better than your typical Chinese restaurant. I'm sure I will be going back as it is not far from my house and not terribly expensive. We had hot and sour soup, which I would recommend, won ton soup, which was average, eggplant, which was very good, and duck. The eggplant was not memorable, and I would probably get something different next time. I was surprised they had duck on the menu, and it was quite good. I think most of the varieties they offer are fried, and it is under $20 for a portion that we shared. There was enough that we took some home, too! They have several varieties, but I think we chose the smallest option.I would suspect, as there are a lo of non-Asian people that eat here, that there Americanized food would be good, also. The service was excellent, and everyone was very friendly. Our server was very kind and even boxed our leftovers at the table for us.

My neighbor recommended this place to me and I gave them a try one cold Monday afternoon. I ordered wonton soup, Sweet and Sour Chicken and an egg roll to go. The wonton soup was pretty good, if not a tad bit salty. The egg roll was huge but too greasy for my taste - I prefer a few more veggies in my roll and I didn't get that here. The main entree was a nice, uniformed golden brown and the sauce itself was very good - there were even chunks of pineapple in it. Unfortunately, it left me with that "uncomfortably full" feeling afterwards - and I didn't even finish the whole thing. In conclusion, the food wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.

One dish they specialize in is black bean paste noodles (chajang myun), which among Koreans is revered.I'd give the paste 3.5 stars, although it was a bit greasy for my taste. The noodles themselves were the biggest disappointment--they were overcooked and soft, not chewy as they should be. I'd give them a 2 out of 5. My stomach had trouble digesting them later on, and that's another sign of bad noodles in general. We also had mapa tofu, which was very good, although if you like it to be spicy, ask the for it because it isn't.The best thing about this place is the wait staff--I can't speak for all of them, but one of the ladies we had was remarkable. I don't expect great service at a place like this, but she was not only gracious, she refused to charge us for extra portions of noodles that we asked for, and brought an extra treat at the end for us to enjoy. We had about 8 people at the table, but we didn't expect anything. They speak English, Chinese (not sure what dialects), and Korean.

Its not quite as good as it used to be, but its still pretty solid Chinese food. Much better than the take-out-only places, for sure. MY PROBLEM is the service is TERRRRRRIBLE. The food comes out in waves so that 1 person sits with no food while the other person has plenty of time to eat their whole meal before the rest of our pary gets their food!! So either somebody waits and eats theirs cold...or somebody else sits and watches you eat your dinner..while you then sit and watch them eat theirs 10 minutes later. This is a bad habit they have been developing for a while now, especially the older man server. So now I'll only go to Golden Buddha when I am alone so that I don't experience this annoying problem. The food is not the best Chinese food I've had, but by FAR from the worst. Just know the service is pretty crappy and slow even if there are only 6-8 people in the whole restaurant for an early dinner. I don't think I'd bring a large party here unless perhaps you were okay with sharing all food and just eating it as it comes out in waves. I just usually expect dinner entrees to arrive TOGETHER or only 1-2 minutes apart...especially for a party of just 2 people on a slow night, early.

I was skeptical when my husband took me here tonight. Since I have lived on the East coast I can usually expect barely edible Chinese fare. My husband occasionally craves Chinese. We went to dinner tonight with me wondering what I was going to endure considering I was quite hungry. So we arrived. Some people were walking up ahead of us in sweats. Sweats? In public? And to dinner? Ew! So when we were waiting to be seated again I was not impressed, quite tacky looking really. I asked him how he heard of the place again and he said it had won tons of awards and "Best Chinese Restaurant" for almost a decade. I saw the awards, quite a long line on their wall. The lighting was cafeteria like, along with the noise of dishes and children. It was quite full on a week day night.Service was okay. I ordered the Mongolian beef with white rice, not rice noodles. My husband ordered the Golden Buddha Chicken and Bird Drop Soup.. Oops, I mean Egg Drop Soup. The server was rushed. My beer was adequately cold. But then... My Mongolian Beef arrived, without the rice at first. I stole a bite while waiting and HARK!!!! The beef melted in my mouth. It was not fake sweet or sticky sweet. It was amazing!! My husband's side of fried rice arrived. A minute or two later my rice arrived and his large plate of food. Turns out they thought he ordered Golden Buddha Fried Rice, so that is what he got.It was the freshest most amazing Chinese food I've ever eaten. Piping hot as well!!! Our total for our two entrees plus Egg Drop Soup and 3 beers was $39.95. We brought take out menus home with us. It was fresh and HOT! His fried rice was amazing, and I have rarely had fried rice that was good since growing up in an Asian country.I would recommend this restaurant a hundred times. I almost gave it 4 stars because the atmosphere was more "family" dining than I prefer, but I guarantee it's been the best Chinese food I've had in Georgia. I'm not sure why some of the reviewers ordered sushi, Chinese and sushi are not the same. Japanese restaurants are more known for sushi. The other interesting side note was the number of Asians eating there, almost half the customers, a sign of good food as well.

I ALWAYS take home leftovers. And plenty of them.I've never ordered from the Korean menu (except I always ask for a bowl of kimchee *complimentary!* with my Chinese food) but the Chinese side of the menu is delicious. I first visited early in 2011. They were really good and I found out they delivered to my area.If I was giving this review a year ago they would have five stars. Their San Shan soup was soo good. Their crab rangoon were my favorite I always got them no matter what else I ordered. Unfortunately the quality of the food has been going down. I wanted to believe it was just a fluke thing so I kept ordering from them. It is hard to find good Chinese food delivery and I hate having to start over. I ordered more times than I should have out of a desperate hope I was imagining it.The last time was about two weeks ago. I was reviewing menus of Chinese food restaurants that have arrived in my mailbox and comparing prices. My sister has sometimes ordered from these other places but I have stayed loyal to Golden Buddha. Golden Buddha was the most expensive and money was tight. Even though I felt let down several times recently I decided to give them one last chance. I ordered their happy family fried rice (I think it is called something else) and every type of meat tasted weird and was unseasoned. I have never wanted or needed the soy sauce or duck sauce they give you but I poured them on. I usually order the crab rangoon but the size and consistency has changed so much that I dared not. I finally tossed their menu in the trash. Perhaps as recent reviewers have suggested the food is better if you go in person. I hope others have a better experience.

The food was pretty good! So far I have tried the steamed dumplings, wonton soup, and fried rice in order to hit the delivery minimum. The steamed dumplings were huge and had thick skins, but they were slightly undercooked. The dipping sauce was great though. The wonton soup and fried rice were both reheat meals on another day, so I can't guarantee how they taste when fresh, but both were pretty good. The soup had a huge amount of veggies and a light flavor, and the fried rice had lots of yummy vegetables. I usually make fried rice by essentially burning it in a pan with a little nonstick spray, so I wasn't a huge fan of how much oil dripped out when I nuked it, but it is fried rice so I can't really expect otherwise.Would love to try the jjajangmyeon sometime but I have a raging seafood allergy, and apparently the jjajangmyeon here has seafood in it? A friend of mine took me to Golden Buddha for dinner one Saturday evening after having eaten here a few times and raved about their great "jjajangmyun" (noodles with black bean sauce). I had never heard of the place before, so I had no idea what to expect going in.After taking a quick glance at the menu, my friend and I decided to order one jjajangmyun and a "ganpoongki" to share. When we asked the server if he could bring us an extra bowl, he said he could split our jjajangmyun for us. We thought that was a kind gesture and agreed to have it split.* Jjajangmyun "Special Sauce/Seafood/Noodle (Soy Bean)" ($9.35) - I had trouble finding this on the menu at first because of the English description for it (in quotations above). I thought it was kind of pricey for a regular-sized bowl of jjajangmyun, which usually costs between $5 to $8 at Korean-Chinese restaurants. However, as soon as the server brought our food, I realized why. There was a generous amount of shrimp and squid (calamari?) in it, which made it more special than your usual jjajangmyun. The sauce was flavored perfectly, and for onion-lovers - there is a LOT of onion in it. I don't like raw onions, but this was one exception where I didn't have a huge problem eating it. I guess the strong flavor of the jjajang sauce overpowered the onions, which was great.* Ganpoongki "Hot Empress Chicken Wings" (a.k.a. "kkanpoongi" $14.95) - Like the jjajangmyun, I thought this was a lot more expensive than it is at other restaurants. However, it was amazing! It was served piping hot, and I loved the spicy garlic sauce which the chicken is smothered in! I usually prefer my ganpoongki to be served boneless, but this was truly delicious. I highly recommend it! The portion is pretty generous, too, so I got to take leftovers home. It was still yummy a day later! =)Overall, Golden Buddha Chinese Restaurant gets 4 stars for their tasty jjajangmyun and ganpoongki along with their friendly service. The main reason why I'm taking a star off is because, again, the food is pricier than similar dishes elsewhere. However, we appreciated the complimentary hot tea (not sure what kind it was) and orange slices after our meal in addition to fortune cookies. I would definitely come back if I'm in the area and highly recommend their Korean-Chinese food if you don't mind spending a little more than usual for great food.[Review 185 of 366]

In general it has been your standard American Chinese place, but I was really surprised by how tasty their sesame chicken sauce was. It's not thick and syrupy - but more runny and light, but full of flavor with scallions added into it. The chicken was lightly breaded and white meat.I also ordered crab rangoon, which was as expected/fried goodness and a veggie egg roll, which was not so great. It looked more like a tiny fried spring roll than an egg roll and was just not what I wanted. Also have tried the mongolian beef, which was also above average - good sauces.Delivery times were always stated as 30 minutes to an hour and the two times I ordered, it was within that time frame (first was right at an hour and the second was 40 minutes).

There must be something magical about Chinese food that causes the price at dinner to be twice as much as the price at lunch even though you get the same amount of food (or less). I don't judge the Buddha on this since all Chinese restaurants seem to follow this practice.I do judge them on the plastic food they keep in a case in the entry way, but my judgment is that they are awesome. The case is meant to show you what different menu items will look like. It is completely not appetizing because most humans do not find the thought of plastic food appetizing. However, I always spend a few minutes gazing at this case before entering and departing. It's just too fascinating not to look at.Anyway, I've been going to Golden Buddha for upwards of seven years and here is what I have learned: Skip the entrees - the appetizers are where it's at.The first few times I went here, my husband and I ordered one entree to split and a couple of apps. Each time we left saying, "Damn those apps were good, but the entree was just eh." Eventually we learned our lesson and now our standard order is Hot and Sour Soup, Egg Rolls, and Crab Rangoon. Those three things are more than enough for two people to end up full and satisfied, and they are better than any entree we've had there. Is this the healthiest meal we could get there? Heck no, but it's the best tasting meal, and it only costs about $15.

Recommended for value. This is absolutely the best bang for your buck that I have found at a Chinese dine-in restaurant in Atlanta. The food isn't fancy, but you get large portions for low prices.Lunch combos are $7 for your choice of one of many entrees (heaping portion), plus rice, soup, and spring or egg roll. Dinner dishes range from about $8-13, and again, you get huge portions. I think they specialize in Beijing/Mandarin style cooking, but they also have Szechuan dishes.I like the service here. Not only are they attentive and kind, but they themselves seem to get along very well together, like a family. The atmosphere is both nice and laid-back. It makes me feel at home.

The kkanpoongi (hot empress chicken wings) is soooooooooooo good!! It comes out extremely hot, so most times, I end up burning the roof of my mouth because I don't have the patience to eat it nice and slow. Seriously, the last time I ate here, my mouth was in pain for three straight days after because I wasn't able to pace myself. But it's always worth it.On the other hand, the tangsuyuk (sweet and sour chicken) sucks major butthole and the jjambbong (spicy seafood soup I think it's called?) is mediocre. The jjajangmyung (black bean noodles) is OK, but I think ching mei/manchunhong/fortune cookie does it better.Overall, I seriously only come here for the kkanpoongi (with an extra order of mapa tofu which is pretty hard for any restaurant to ruin), it's so freaking good guys.

When my husband and I go to Golden Buddha, we only order two things--kkanpunggi (spicy and sweet fried chicken wings) and jjampong (Korean spicy seafood and noodle soup). I don't even know what else they sell at Golden Buddha--we've never ordered anything else. We share the soup and and have enough chicken left over for lunch the next day.fyi...Golden Buddha's kkanpunggi is pretty well-known. There's a place in Chicago, Great Sea, that is famous for their kkanpunggi, but I think Golden Buddha's is better because it is sweeter and has a lot more garlic.

After picking a friend up for the airport, we were lazing around the house and trying to figure out what to eat. We agreed upon Chinese food and she immediately said that Golden Buddha was the best option for the area.I was a bit disappointed with the vegetarian options that she read off of the menu on her fancy iPhone. No, I'm not going to switch to a smartphone until I absolutely have to--even if it means that I can look up menus on my phone, which is definitely a big drawing point. Most of the options were just vegetables, and if you know me at all, you know I'm a huge fan of TOFU! Especially when it's fried, but let's be real: I like it blended in my pies and smoothies, fried in my Chinese food, raw in my salads. I will eat it any way you throw it at me.So the menu is mostly vegetables, and as I'm hemming, hawing, and lamenting over this fact, her friend changed my life with just one short sentence: "I'm sure they can add tofu to any dish." WHAT?! Seriously? Why did I not think of this myself? I am a terrible vegetarian, because I pretty much never customize a dish, except to ask them to leave out meat. Ten years later, I can add tofu to any dish I want? Could this be more perfect? We ordered over the phone for pick-up, since we were just down the road and knew delivery would take some time on a Friday night. In just ten minutes, we were home chowing some tasty food. I didn't get their takes on their meals, but let's just say 1) we all ate too much, and 2) no one said anything bad about their meal. I ended up getting the broccoli with garlic sauce and adding fried tofu, and it was wonderful. I had enough for a second meal, but then I got hungry late-night and ate all of the tofu out of it...oops. So I used the leftover broccoli & sauce & rice & just added some tofu I fried myself.I'm sure this won't be the last time I eat here, since my friend will be back for the summer! It will probably never be somewhere I crave, but it was better than some of the other Chinese I've had in Atlanta. There's no place like home! Home not meaning China, silly goose, but the Chinese food restaurant I grew up eating at in upstate NY.

I have been here in the past.; several times to be exact. I thought it was s good place for sit-down chinese. The last time I went there I wasn't pleased with my food. My girlfriend liked hers. We went yesterday afternoon. The Koi pond is very nice and the building is nice but I felt as thought they had lost it. I will not go back. The food was lak-luster. Salad wilty, dressing had been sitting around, food was just medium. Girlfriend ordered the sea-bass and it looked questionable to me. She later said it was a little off. Unfortunately Lee's has slipped off their previous pedestal.
